RFA: EPA’s own data shows volume drop

The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) says recent data published by the EPA implies that small refiner exemptions have resulted in lowering the 2017 required volume of renewable fuels by more than one-Billion gallons, or, six-percent. The RFA says the EPA’s analysis shows the 2016 RFS requirement lowered by more than a HALF-billion gallons.

The RFA is among ethanol groups and lawmakers asking the EPA for the exact number of waivers granted OR the volume of required renewable fuel blending that has been “effectively erased.”

The RFA says EPAs database shows the lost blending volume obligations of the past two years to be 10 times the collective volume lost from 2013 through ’15.

EPA administrator Scott Pruitt told farm broadcasters this week his agency is granting waivers that are within the law.
