Feeding the Economy study shows $6.7-trillion impact

Twenty-two food and ag groups have commissioned a study which finds the economic contributions from the food industry were more than 20% of the overall U.S. economy this year – totaling more than 6-Trillion-dollars. The study, by John Dunham and Associates, was funded by The Goodstone Group. It considered jobs, wages, taxes and exports and broke down the data state-by-state.

 

The Feeding the Economy study was requested by a broad coalition of food and ag groups, including the American Bakers Association, Corn Refiners Association, Food Marketing Institute, the Grocery Manufacturers Association and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

The total food and industry economic impact by Brownfield Ag News states:

Iowa: $160-Billion

Illinois: $333 Billion

Indiana: $138 Billion

Michigan: $174 Billion

Minnesota: $171 Billion

Missouri: $143 Billion

Nebraska: $117 Billion

Ohio: $241 Billion

South Dakota: $41 Billion

Wisconsin: $190 Billion
