Tell us about the services your station provides.

KIIC’s PartyBox trailer is a party on wheels. This unit goes to many local events or remotes and has a large video board on top which can be customized with logos, messages or even Dish Tailgater live satellite, In addition, it comes complete with a 3,000 watt PA system, lighting system, drop down stage, and keg tapper. 

Tell us about your community involvement.

KIIC Is very event driven.   One of our big events each year is ‘BaconTown’ at Bridgeview Center in Ottumwa. Vendors prepare over 2,500 pounds of bacon for attendees to taste.  Some of our other events include:  Enchanted Forest (Halloween trail walk), ‘Light The Night Easter Egg Hunt after Dark’ , Wing Ding Fling Thing, Chocolate and all that Jazz, Food Truck Frenzy, as well as numerous country music concerts with the likes of  The Oak Ridge Boys, Travis Tritt, Wynonna Judd, Lonestar, John Michael Montgomery, and more.  We see events not only as listener engagement, but also alternative revenue opportunities.

A few days before Christmas, we host ‘Blue Christmas’ where we turn over the entire day to our men and women in Blue who come in and become DJ’s for a day – playing their favorite Christmas music, and talk about their Christmas memories, give shout outs to their law enforcement teams and just plain have fun.   Its a great honor for them and great recognition – allowing them to communicate with the community in a different way than normal.   It’s a great break from their normal day-to-day. 

Tell us about any involvement you have, or coverage you provide, to any agriculture related groups.

Now in its 7^th year, KIIC hosts its annual Farm Show and Ag Expo in Ottumwa.   This event is attended by over 3,000 each year and features special guest speakers, as well as a full expo hall of products and services geared to the AG community.
