Strong week for wheat export inspections

The USDA reports early in the marketing year, wheat export inspections are strong.

For the week ending June 30th, wheat came out at 560,598 tons, up 46,829 from the week ending June 23rd and 190,315 higher than the week ending July 2nd, 2015. About a month into the 2016/17 marketing year, wheat inspections are 2,267,246 tons, compared to 1,609,921 towards the outset of 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,164,887 tons, 286,340 lower than the previous week, but 226,563 higher than this time last year. With less than a quarter left in the 2015/16 marketing year, corn inspections are 35,029,042 tons, compared to 36,866,363 late in 2014/15.

Soybeans were pegged at 191,426 tons, 104,390 less than the week before and 31,649 below a year ago. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 44,454,692 tons, compared to 48,109,838 last year.

Sorghum totaled 81,124 tons. That’s a decrease of 40,581 tons on the week, but an increase of 80,757 on the year. 2015/16 sorghum inspections are 7,570,605 tons, compared to 7,530,534 in 2014/15.
