Fungicides: when will they do the most good

Since 2005, the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) On-Farm Network has tested foliar fungicides on corn and soybeans across Iowa.  The general trend is that with more moisture usually comes more plant disease.Tristan Mueller, Iowa Soybean Association On-Farm Network, at the ISA Research Conference, Des Moines, Feb. 4, 2016.

“We have a lot of years of data looking at fungicides,” said Tristan Mueller with the ISA, during an interview with Brownfield Ag News at the ISA Research Conference in Des Moines.  “They really have differentiated themselves depending on what the weather brings and what disease pressures we’re getting in each year.”

Greater yield responses to fungicide are usually seen during a wet summer, such as was seen in 2015.
