After a lull in reported cases of avian influenza striking commercial turkey farms in Minnesota, six new presumptive positive tests were confirmed by the state Board of Animal Health Tuesday.

Three more cases in Kandiyohi County bring the total there to 36.  Renville reported its third and fourth detections.  And a first detection in Brown County brings the total number of counties in the state affected by avian flu to 22.

The State Emergency Operations Center remains active and ready to assist for any needs related to the outbreak.

To date 94 poultry farms in Minnesota have become infected with the virus affecting more than 8 million birds.
