Dinneen stands behind RFS

The renewable fuel standard (RFS) has been the most successful program for energy security, according to Bob Dinneen, president and CEO of the Renewable Fuels Association. Since the RFS was put in place in 2005, the country’s dependence on liquid transportation fuels has dropped from 60 percent to 45 percent, according to Dinneen. “The fact of the matter is it’s because of ethanol, it’s because of the renewable fuel standard,” he said. Dinneen isn’t letting his guard down. He anticipates continued runs from lawmakers at the provision that mandates production minimums for renewable fuels.
