World Food Prize honoree on challenges facing agriculture

The recipient of the 2012 World Food Prize award, Daniel Hillel, discussed challenges facing agriculture during a recent speech in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The biggest challenge, Hillel says, is producing more food for a growing population without causing undue harm to the environment and natural resources.  He says it is imperative that we adopt more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.

A pioneer in micro-irrigation for crops in arid regions, Hillel has in recent years shifted his focus to climate change.
