A baffling upset

Last weekend’s Kentucky Derby will make history. But this race won’t go down in the record books for unbelievable speed or boisterous action on the track. Instead, the 131st running of the American tradition will go down in history as one of the most baffling upsets ever seen.

Horse racing fans and experts have spent the last two days scratching their heads, trying to figure out how a 50 to 1 horse could win the race. It’s an upset for sure, but the performance by Giacomo was nothing stellar compared to other tales of Churchill victory.

Those in the media that follow horse racing are filling today’s newspapers with a variety of opinions and ideas of how this happened.
