Utilizing multiple modes of action

Rensselaer, Ind. farmer Ryan Kohlhagen scouts his soybean field. For Ryan Kohlhagen’s farm, using a different type of chemistry is what works.  Kohlhagen farms near Rensselaer, Ind.  He says their farm is 100% Liberty Link beans.

When it comes to controlling weeds they start with a pre-emergent herbicide which Kohlhagen says does a good job keeping the Palmer Amaranth (one of those problematic, resistant weeds) in check.

Weeds can be incredibly competitive.  If they aren’t controlled they can deprive corn and soybean plants from the nutrients they need to grow.  When looking at the best weed management plan for a farm, Kohlhagen says it’s important to utilize multiple modes of action.
