Stine researching 12-inch row corn
This summer, Stine Seed Company planted 2,500 acres of seed corn and conventional corn in 12-inch rows.
According to Stine regional sales agronomist Todd Schomburg, it’s part of Harry Stine’s vision for feeding a growing world population—producing more food on fewer acres. And Shomburg says Stine has started the process of breeding for and identifying corn hybrids that will be able to handle the narrower-row, higher-population environments.
Schomburg discussed the research effort in an interview with Brownfield at the Farm Progress Show.
