MO corn leader wants changes to ARC/PLC

The vice president of the Missouri Corn Growers Association tells Brownfield Ag Newshe wants to see some changes in the 2018 Farm Bill where the A-R-C and P-L-C safety net programs are concerned.

“I don’t like having to pick one program over another, not knowing the result. If you pick wrong then you’re on the out. So, I would like to see a more streamlined Farm Bill that, you know, if you pick wrong you’re going to be a loser.”

Mark Scott says the Price Loss Coverage was a disappointment. He tells Brownfield, “With the payment last year, if you picked PLC, you didn’t get very much. It was about an 80% reduction.”

Scott farms 45 miles northwest of St. Louis in Wentzville, Missouri. Brownfield interviewed him on the first day of the 2017 Commodity Classic in San Antonio.
