Michigan soybean researcher optimistic about new technologies

Michigan Soybean Promotion Committee research coordinator Mark Seamon tells Brownfield farmers and applicators need to be especially mindful of off-target herbicide applications which have the potential to negatively impact specialty crops. He says Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans will offer growers more control for tough to manage weeds, but current regulations and label requirements may change mid-season.  He says at this time the applicator is responsible for any pesticide drift issues.

Seamon adds the industry is also exploring ways to increase protein content in soybeans which would benefit end users and provide more value for growers.
