Delivering data for agriculture
Sharing data is key to an interconnected future in the ag industry. During IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference, Colin Pollock, Slingshot Sales Specialist with Raven Industries spoke about how ag retailers and other farm service organizations will integrate farmers data to support decision making and profitability. He said the data itself can serve many purposes to many people in many different fashions.
Pollock tells Brownfield that being able to deliver the data to anyone in the form they need is a common goal in agriculture. Accomplishing this involves retrieving the data from the field computer to a location with a solid, robust connection (which Raven can do with Slingshot) and taking it to a place to be broken down in its most basic parts then reconstructing it into a format that can be digested by anyone who wants it.
Looking down the road, Pollack believes the need for the transmission of data will continue to expand and how that data is used will play an increasingly greater role in all aspects of farming. He sees more people interested in new technologies and interconnectivity in agriculture.
