Are paid mobile device apps worth the money?

Brian Arnell, OSU at 2013 InfoAgWhat about  paid for apps?  Brownfield Ag News asked OSU’s Brian Arnell if they are worth it. He says they can be, especially if they’re from a known and trusted source, “The Purdue Corn guide is a paid app. Everybody loves the Purdue Corn guide. I’ve got four of those handbooks in my office at any given point in time. So, that is a known commodity. That $30 is probably a great investment because everyone knows what’s there.”

Arnell says whether paid or free, farmers love Apps, “They won’t even admit to it. I know several that will not admit to having Apps or using them but I know they do it on a regular basis. Like the tank mix calculators, I know they plug it in there to double-check their calculations, or things like that. Is it saving the world? No. Is it making the day slightly easier? Absolutely.”
