Illinois Scholarship and Intern Program

1st Farm Credit Services

             Internship

                                1st Farm Credit Service Internship- Interns will help create a marketing plan, conduct market research or learn the basics of a credit and sales organization. Selection is based on interest in rural American and desire to analyze and problem solve. Helpful majors include economics, finance, agriculture, or other related fields.

                Scholarship

                                Community College Scholarship-($500) Student must be accepted into an agriculture or agriculture-related curriculum at specific community colleges in order to apply. Applications are due depending on the community college dates.

                                John Leatherbury Scholarship- ($1,500) Students attending Illinois State University majoring in agriculture with consideration given to academic performance are eligible. Applications are due depending on Illinois State University dates.

                                1st Farm Credit Services Scholarship- ($1,500) Students attending Western Illinois University majoring in agriculture with consideration given to academic performance are able to apply. Applications are due depending on Western Illinois University dates.

GROWMARK

            Internship

                                GROWMARK Internships- GROWMARK offers a variety of internships that allow student to see a “real world” agribusiness environment focused on sales, marketing, and customer service activities. Students will receive experience in agronomy, energy, accounting, and grain systems.

                Scholarship

                                GROWMARK Essay Contest for FFA-($500) FFA members must submit essay on provided topic and focus on careers in agriculture: agribusiness, food/ processing, government/ industry groups, and production/ farming. Applications are due March 12.

Horsemen’s Council of Illinois

                Scholarship

                                Ruby Holmquist Memorial Scholarship- Applicant must be a member of HCI and pursuing a horse- related career. Student must be able to attend the Horse Fair. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Illinois 4-H

                Scholarship

                                Illinois 4-H legacy of Leadership Scholarship- ($1,000) High school seniors or college students who are currently enrolled in 4-H may apply. Five years of 4-H membership is required. Applications are due March 1.

                                Illinois 4-H Livestock Scholarship- ($1,000) High school seniors or college students who are currently enrolled in 4-H may apply. Three years of 4-H enrollment and participation in 4-H livestock projects and focus on an agricultural degree and career are required. Applications are due June 1.

                                State Fair Junior Horse Show Scholarship- (Varies) Youth who are completing their last eligible year of the horse show may apply. Applicant must have exhibited at the State Fair Jr. Horse Show at least once in the past three years. Applications are due Sept. 15.

                                Superior Young Producer Scholarship- ($1,000) Current 4-H of FFA member who exhibits beef, sheep, swine, dairy, or horses at the state fair are eligible. Selection is based on judging, skill-a-thon/ hippology stations, management test, meat identification, and/ or quality assurance testing. Applications are due July 1.

Illinois Beef Association

              Internship

                                Illinois Beef Association Internship- Applicant must be a member of a family actively involved in beef production and IBA and be majoring in agriculture.  Applications are due March 1.

                Scholarship

                                IBA Scholarship- ($750) High school seniors who plan to major in agriculture can apply. Applicant must be a resident of Illinois and plan to attend a two- or four- year college or university and must be from a family actively involved in beef production and currently a member of IBA. Applications are due March 1.

                                Terry Clemons Memorial Scholarship- ($500) High school seniors who plan to major in agriculture can apply. Applicant must be a resident of Illinois and plan to attend a two- or four- year college or university and must be from a family actively involved in beef production and currently a member of IBA. Applications are due March 1.

                                Marion Butler Memorial Scholarship- ($500) High school seniors who plan to major in agriculture can apply. Applicant must be a resident of Illinois and plan to attend a two- or four- year college or university and must be from a family actively involved in beef production and currently a member of IBA. Applications are due March 1.

                                Ogle County Scholarship- ($500) High school seniors who plan to major in agriculture can apply. Applicant must be a resident of Ogle County and plan to attend a two- or four- year college or university and must be from a family actively involved in beef production and currently a member of IBA. Applications are due March 1.

                                Macoupin County Scholarship- ($500) High school seniors who plan to major in agriculture can apply. Applicant must be a resident of Macoupin County and plan to attend a two- or four- year college or university and must be from a family actively involved in beef production and currently a member of IBA. Applications are due March 1.

Illinois Farm Bureau

            Internship

                                Auditing Internship-Intern must have the ability to work in a team atmosphere and take direction and ask questions. Student must have experience with Word and Excel and a desire to experience “hands-on” public accounting field work.

                Scholarship

                                IAA Foundation General Scholarship- ($1,000) Students who plan to study agriculture, agribusiness, or an agriculture related field at any recognized university, college, or community college in or outside of Illinois are able to apply. Preference will be given to students studying foreign trade. Application open Dec. 1.

                                William J. Kuhfass Memorial Scholarship- ($1,000) Students with an agriculture background or working towards an occupation in or related to agriculture at a post-secondary school in the state of Illinois are eligible to apply. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Dale E. Butz Scholarship- ($1,000) Students who will attend a post secondary school with a background in production agriculture who is majoring in agriculture, agribusiness, or agriculture related fields may apply. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Heartland NAMA Steven A. Hammerschmidt Memorial Scholarship- ($1,000) Juniors or seniors in college who are studying agriculture or agri-business at an Illinois college or university who is interested in a career in agricultural marketing, agricultural sales or agricultural communications may apply. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Case- New Holland Scholarship- ($1,000) Students who live in LaSalle, Livingston, Marshall, McLean, Peoria, Tazewell, or Woodford county who plan to pursue a degree in agricultural engineering, biological systems engineering or agriculture mechanized/ systems management at a school of high education in Illinois are eligible. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Dorothy and Wilhelmine Ratermann Scholarship- ($1,200) Applicants must reside in Calhoun, Greene, Macoupin, Montgomery, Christian, Shelby, Cumberland, and Clark counties or any county south. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Greg Carney Scholarship- ($1,500) Any student of the University of Illinois who is actively involved in production agriculture in a family farm operation and has a track record of active 4-H membership and majors in agriculture is eligible. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Robert F. Rouse Scholarship- ($1,100) Students who are children of Lake County Farm Bureau members and plan to major in agriculture, agribusiness, or a related field or pursuing a nursing degree may apply. Applicant must attend a college, university, or community college in Illinois. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Fletcher A. Gourley, Leonard Southwell, and Roger Capps Scholarship- ($2,000) Applicants must children of patrons on Prairie Farms Dairy or sons and daughters of current employees. To be eligible, the parent must have been an employee or patron before Feb. 6, 2007. Applications open Dec. 1.

                                Walter J. and Martha J. Wills Scholarship- ($1,200) Applicant must be the child of an Illinois Farm Bureau member who lives on and operates a farm. Student must be enrolled at SIU at Carbondale’s College of Agriculture and may pursue any program major except equine, floriculture, or forestry. Applications open Dec. 1.

Illinois FFA Association

                Scholarship

                                Alliance Pipeline Scholarship-($1,000) High school seniors from Rock Island County, Whiteside County, Bureau County, LaSalle County, Grundy County, or Will County who plan to attend a two- or four- year college may apply. Selection is based on financial need, academic achievement, leadership, and school, community, and church involvement. Applications are due March 1.

                                Henry County Agricultural Scholarship-(Varies) High school seniors from Henry County who plan to attend a two- or four- year college can apply. Selection is based on financial need, academic achievement, leadership, and school, community, and church involvement. Applications are due March 1.  

                                Sam Taylor Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) Applicants must be an Illinois FFA member who is a graduating senior planning to major in agriculture. Students majoring in agriculture education or animal science will receive first consideration. Applications are due March 1.

Illinois Pork Producers

                Scholarships

                                Illinois Pork Donor-Advised Fund Scholarship- (Varies) Applicants must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or be enrolling in a college of university to be eligible. Applications are due April 1.

                                Ryan and Friends Scholarship- ($500) Applicants must be attending a university, college, or community college and have been a 4-H or FFA member. Applications are due April 1.

Illinois State Treasurer

                Scholarship

                                Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship- ($2,000) High school seniors who are planning to pursue a college degree and career in agriculture or agriculture-related fields are able to apply. Applicant must have a minimum of 2.75 GPA. Applications are due May 14.

Illinois State University

                Scholarship

                Students attending Illinois State University and are interested in the College of Applied Science and Technology may apply for university scholarships before Nov. 15.

Lake Land College Foundation

                Scholarship

                Student attending Lake Land College may apply for college scholarships before March 1.

Northern Illinois University

                Scholarship

                                Students attending Northern Illinois University may apply for university scholarships before Aug. 15.

Southern Illinois University

                Scholarship

                                Students attending Southern Illinois University may apply for university scholarships before July 15.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign- College of Agriculture Consumer and Environmental Sciences

                Scholarship

                                Students attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and are interesting in the College of Agriculture Consumer and Environmental Sciences may apply for university scholarships before Feb. 1.

Western Illinois University

                Scholarship

                                Student attending Western Illinois University may apply for university scholarships before Sept. 1.
