National Scholarships and Intern Programs

Accelerated Genetics

Internship

Sales and Service Intern- Intern will be responsible for conducting market penetration studies, assisting with retail sales, photographing progeny, and representing Accelerated Genetics at summer functions. Applicant must have an understanding of the dairy and/or beef industries and be experienced with cattle. Former experience with artificial insemination is advantageous. Applications are due Nov. 15.

Marketing Intern- Intern will be responsible for projects including public relations, written communications, print advertising, audio/visual and web work, interviewing customers, writing feature articles for the company newsletter, and writing general news releases. Applicant must be familiar with the dairy and beef industries as well as be proficient in written and oral communication and have experience with desktop publishing software. Applications are due Nov. 15.

Genetic Service Intern- Intern will be responsible for photographing dairy sires and offspring, clipping and preparing cattle, and hosting tours for international and domestic groups. Applicant must have experience with dairy cattle, knowledge of dairy genetics, and the ability to judge and fit dairy cattle. Good communication and computer skills are advantageous. Applications are due Nov. 15

Veterinary Intern- Intern will be responsible for projects including working with herd veterinarians, animal health procedures, blood testing, semen collection and processing, paperwork and record keeping. Application must have experience in cattle handling, basic animal health procedures, and enrolled in a college of veterinary medicine. Applications are due March 1.

Scholarship

Accelerated Genetics High School Scholarship- ($500) High school seniors planning to major in agriculture in vo-tech college or four-year university may apply. Applicant must have participated in FFA, 4-H any various breed organizations, or any agricultural organization. Apply through National FFA Scholarship application. Applications are due Feb. 15.

Accelerated Genetics College Scholarship- ($1,000) Students majoring in agricultural field at any vo-tech college or four-year university can apply. Apply through National FFA Scholarship application. Applications are due Feb. 15.

Agriculture Future of America

Scholarship

AFA Community Scholarship- (Varies) High school seniors planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in an agricultural related field can apply. Contact AFA for local due dates.

AFA Leader and Academic Scholarship- ($2,600; $1,000 leadership development award to attend AFA Leaders Conference and $1,600 academic scholarship upon successful attendance) High school seniors enrolling in agriculture- related degree programs may apply. Scholarship seeks to indentify young leaders to receive an academic scholarship the second semester of freshman year. Selection is based on career vision and goals, leadership and community involvement, and financial need. Applications are available Winter 2010.

William J. Collins Scholarship- (Varies) High school seniors who are children of AgriBank district employees who plan to pursue bachelor’s degree in an agricultural related field are eligible. Applications are due March 15.

AgStar Financial Service

Internship

AgStar Internship- AgStar Scholars will have the first opportunity for a paid internship. Assignments could cover credit, sales or special projects during the course of a 10 to 12 week period.

Scholarship

AgStar Scholars Program Scholarship- ($2,000) College juniors interested in agricultural finance or agricultural related fields can apply. Applicant must attend AgStar Scholars program during senior year. Applications are due fall of junior year.

Air Force ROTC

Scholarship

Air Force ROTC Scholarship Program- (Varies) High school seniors or graduates who have never been full-time college students, or are not currently full-time college students, or are not planning to be a full-time college student during the 2010-2011 school year can apply. Contact local recruiter for application due dates.

Alpha Zeta

Scholarship

National Alpha Zeta Scholars- (Varies) College student involved in Alpha Zeta and have at least two semesters left of school are eligible. Applications are due Feb. 15.

American Agri-Women

Scholarship

Jean Ibendahl Scholarship- ($500) Applicant must be a farmer, rancher, or be the wife, daughter, or other close relative of a farmer, rancher or other person employed in agriculture between the ages of 18-23.  Applicant must have knowledge or work experience in agriculture and pursuing a degree in agriculture. Applications are due June 1.

Sister Thomas More Bertels Scholarship- ($500) Must be a farmer, rancher, or be the wife, daughter, or other close relative of a farmer, rancher or other person employed in agriculture over the age of 24 in order to apply.  Applicant must have knowledge or work experience in agriculture and pursuing a degree in agriculture. Applications are due June 1.

American Farm Bureau

Scholarship

American Farm Bureau and Dodge Truck Scholarship- ($1,000) Students pursuing a two- or four-year degree in any major is eligible. Applicant must be a Farm Bureau member, have documents strong supervised agriculture experience program, and financial need will be considered. Apply through National FFA Scholarship application. Applications are due Feb. 15.

American Guernsey Association

Scholarship

National AGA Youth Scholarship- ($750) High school senior though age 21 who is AGA Junior member can apply. Applicant must complete three essay questions and personal interview. Applications are due March 31.

American Hereford Association

Scholarship

Gary Bishop Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) Applicant must be between the ages of 17-22 and be a high school senior to be eligible. They must also be a member of the National Junior Hereford Association. Applications are due Sept. 1.

Golden Bull Achievement Award- (Varies) Applicant must be 18 years old and an active member of the National Junior Hereford Association. Their parents must also be current paid members of the National Hereford Women or the American Hereford Association. Applications are due May 1.

Hereford Youth Foundation of America Scholarship- (Varies) Applicant must be a member of the National Junior Hereford Association and be a paid member of the past three consecutive years. Must be a high school junior or senior or in college with a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Applications are due Sept. 1.

Ed Bible Scholarship- (Varies) High school senior or college student who is a member of the National Junior Hereford Association may apply. Selection is based on academic achievement, communications skills, leadership experience, and Hereford experience. Applications are due May 1.

Future Cattlemen Scholarship- (Varies) College students who are an active member of the National Junior Hereford Association are eligible. Applicant’s parent or guardian must be a current paid member of the National Hereford Women or the American Hereford Association. Applications are due May 1.

John Wayne Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) College students who are interested in pursuing a career related to agriculture, home economics, or any field directly related to the Hereford industry. Applicant must be an active National Junior Hereford Association member and their parents much be a current paid member of the American Hereford Women or the American Hereford Association. Applications are due May 1.

National Junior Merit Award- (Varies) College students who are a member of the National Junior Hereford Association and under the age of 22. Applicants must have complete at least one semester of school with a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Applications are due May 1.

Poll-ette Founders Scholarship- (Varies) Applicant must be a member of the National Junior Hereford Association and between the ages of 17-22.  Applications are due May 1.

Walter and Joe Lewis Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) College student who attends a four- year university or a two- year community college or a technical school can apply. Applications are due June 15.

American Jersey Cattle Association

Internship

Marketing Internship- Students involved in the American Jersey Association or who raise registered Jersey cattle may apply for a two- or three-month internship with Jersey Marketing Service in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Applicants are due Feb. 1

On-Farm Internship- Students involved in the American Jersey Association or who raise registered Jersey cattle may apply for an on-farm structured internship in Jersey herd management.

Scholarship

Paul Jackson Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) College students who have completed at least one year of college who are a junior member or lifetime member of the American Jersey Cattle Association and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applications are due July 1.

V.L. Peterson Scholarship- (Varies) Students who have completed at least one year of college who are a junior member or lifetime member of the American Jersey Cattle Association and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applications are due July 1.

William A. Russell Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) Entering college freshman who are a junior member or lifetime member of the American Jersey Cattle Association and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 may apply. Applications are due July 1.

Cedercrest Farms Scholarship- (Varies) Undergraduate and graduate students seeking a degree in large animal veterinary practice, dairy production, dairy manufacturing, or product marketing who are a junior member or lifetime member of the American Jersey Cattle Association and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 is eligible. Applications are due July 1.

Russell-Malnate Scholarship for Advanced Studies- (Varies) Undergraduate student who has completed at least one-half of coursework credit hours for a degree in dairy science, animal science (dairy emphasis), large animal veterinary practice, dairy production or manufacturing, or dairy product marketing, or a graduate student in the dame degree program areas who are a junior member or lifetime member of the American Jersey Cattle Association and have a minimum GPA of 2.5 can apply. Applications are due July 1.

American Quarter Horse Association

Internship

Educational Programs Internship- Interns will assist the Manger of Education in development and implementation or educational projects and activities including but not limited to Camp It Up, lesson plans, etc.  Student will develop lessons plans for grades pre-k through 5th grade and develop arena demonstrations and activities. Applicant must have horsemanship experience and education, written communications skills, supervisory skills for overseeing volunteers, and superior verbal communications skills. Deadline for applying is April 1.

Marketing Internship- Intern will write and disseminate press releases, develop and maintain a list of media contacts, develop and update various marketing material, help plan and coordinate special events, and develop advertisements for AQHA. Applications are due March 15.

Scholarship

AQHF Youth Scholarship- ($8,000) High school student ranked in top 25% of class and 3 years cumulative membership may apply. Applicants must exhibit an affinity for the advancement of the American Quarter Horse and demonstrate leadership potential. Applications are due Dec. 1.

AQHF General Scholarship- ($4,000) College student with current membership can apply. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Dogwood Scholarship- ($4,000) High school seniors or college students with membership are eligible. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

AQHF Racing Scholarship- ($8,000) High school seniors or college students with membership can apply. Applicants must have experience in the racing industry or are seeking a career in the industry. Applicants seeking a career in the racing industry may specialize in veterinary medicine, racetrack management, or other related fields. Students must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Excellence in Equine/ Agricultural Involvement Scholarship- ($25,000) High school seniors or college students who are current members may apply. Applicants much exemplify the characteristics of leadership and excellence acquired through participation in equine and/or agriculture activities. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.5 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Farm and Ranch Heritage Scholarship- ($12,500) High school seniors or college students who are current members are eligible. Applicants must come from farming or ranching backgrounds that represent the outstanding education, expertise or life skills gained through participation in agricultural activities. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Telephony Equine Veterinary Scholarship- ($10,000) Third year veterinary students who are current members and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA may apply. Applicant must pursue an equine-focused veterinary practice. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Journalism or Communications Scholarship- ($8,000) High school seniors or college students who have been a member of AQHA of more than one year can apply. Applicant must pursue a career in news, editorial or print journalism, photojournalism or a related field. Applicants must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Therapeutic Riding Scholarship- ($5,000) Second year college undergraduate how has been a member of AQHA for more than one year may apply. Applicant must pursue a degree in animal science, equine science, agriculture/business or a related field. Applicants must pursue a career in therapeutic horseback riding center management and have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

Guy Stoops Professional Horsemen’s Family Scholarship- ($500) High school seniors or college students who are current members and whose parents are current members with membership in good standing for three years or more can apply. Applicants must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Applications are due Dec. 1.

American Royale

Internship

AJSA Internship- Intern will be responsible for assisting with programs of the ASA and AJSA activities, planning and executing the National Junior Shorthorn Show & Youth Conference, writing press releases, completing creative design work, contacting media, corresponding with planning committee, and entering and organizing data. Applicants must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in college, have a background in livestock and agriculture, and have computer skills. Applications are due March 1.

Scholarship

American Royale 12 Scholarship- ($2,500) College students who have a minimum of 2.5 GPA and have complete 32 credit hours for an accredited school can apply. It is taken into consideration whether an applicant is pursuing a degree in an agricultural related field. Applications are due June 8.

American Shorthorn Association

Internship

AJSA Internship- Applicant should be a sophomore, junior, or senior in college and have a livestock or agricultural background. The student must be interested in working in an agriculture-related field after college and be self motivated, professional, detail oriented, outgoing, and energetic. Communications, marketing, public relations, and computer skills are required. Applications are due March 1.

Scholarship

Mike Dugdale Memorial Scholarship- ($1,000) College upperclassmen that is an active member of AJSA and has an interest in bettering the beef cattle industry can apply. Applications are due May 3.

John C. Ragsdale Scholarship­- ($1,000) High school seniors or college freshmen that are an active member of AJSA and have an interest in learning how to evaluate livestock and an appreciation for the purebred livestock industry are eligible. Applications are due May 3.

Don Longley Memorial Scholarship- ($1,000) High school seniors or college freshmen may apply. Selection is based on Shorthorn involvement, grades, need, and participation in other activities. Applications are due May 3.

Lyle and Katharyn DeWitt Memorial Scholarship- ($1,000) High school seniors or college freshmen may apply. Selection is based on involvement in agriculture, educational background, ACT scores, and high school/ college GPA. Applications are due May 3.

American International Charolais Association

Scholarship

American International Junior Charolais Association Scholarship- (Varies) Current members of AIJCA may apply. Selection is based on scholastic excellence in high school/ college, demonstrated AIJCA or associated affiliate leadership, interest in the cattle industry, and youth leadership. Applications are due April 30.

Angus Foundation

Scholarship

CAB/ NJAA Scholarship- ($1,000) Applicant must be a sophomore, junior or senior in college and must be a member of the NJAA or the American Angus Association are able to apply. Student must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA with a declared major in animal science, meat science, food science, agricultural communications, or a related field of academic study. Applications are due May 1.

American Angus Auxiliary Scholarship- (Varies) High school seniors must be recommended by the state or regional Auxiliary and must demonstrate an interest in Angus projects and have part in such activities at the time of application.   Applications are due March 1.

Archer Daniels Midland

Internship

ADM Internships- ADM offers internships in the areas of accounting, commodity merchandising, finance, elevator management, engineering, grain terminal operation management, human resources, information technology, milling operations, research, safety, strategic planning, transportation and logistics.

Scholarship

Archer Daniels Midland FFA Scholarship-($1,000) Current FFA members pursuing a two- or four- year degree in agronomy, animal nutrition, animal/ crop/ food or plant science, far,/ ranch or business management, general agriculture, agricultural communications, education, journalism, extension, public relations, economics, international agriculture, finance, sales, marketing, engineering, mechanization, power & equipment, agriscience technology, biochemistry, biological sciences, biotechnology, food packaging or technology , pulp and paper technology or water conservation may apply. Applicants must have a minimum of 2.8 GPA and exhibit strong leadership skills and have participated in community service. Apply through National FFA Scholarship application. Secure Optimal Yield Scholarship- ($5,000) High school senior who is pursuing agriculture as a degree of study is eligible. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and the child or grandchild of a current ASA member. Selection is based on essay questions, extra-curricular activities, and activities/ leadership skills in agricultural activities. Application due Nov. 16.

Scholarship

Best Buy @15 Scholarship- ($1,000) High school students who will attend college after graduation are eligible to apply. Selection is based on academic achievement, volunteerism efforts, and work experience. Applications are due Feb. 15.

Brown Swiss Association

Scholarship

Brown Swiss Association Scholarship- ($1,000) High school seniors to age 22 that have been a National Brown Swiss Member for at least three years, including the current year can apply. Applicant must be pursuing a degree in an agriculture or dairy-related field. Applications are due March 15.

Cargill

Internship

Production Management Internship- Interns will learn all aspects of the operation of a production facility and will be assigned special plant projects to complete throughout the summer. Students will participate and gain exposure in food, environmental and occupational safety, automation, people management, production of food products, and statistical process control.

Quality Assurance Internship- Intern will be responsible for understanding and applying the principles of quality assurance and biology. Students will perform analytical test procedures and instrumental analysis on process, final product, air, and water samples.  Students will participate and gain exposure in HACCP, GMPs, environmental, occupational and food safety, automation, food processing, statistical process control, microbiology lab, and using computers for information and analysis.

Scholarship

Cargill Community Scholarship Program- ($1,000) High school senior or college student who is pursuing either a two- or four- year degree in any major is eligible. Applicant must live near a Cargill or Cargill joint-venture facility and have academic achievement, leadership activities, and community service involvement. Applications are due Feb. 15.

Certified Angus Beef

Internship

Marketing Internship- Intern will focus on assisting the company’s marketing team with key initiatives and the opportunity to see projects from start to completion. Strong communication and writing skills and the ability to plan and execute projects is required. Managing a variety of projects, with attention to deadlines and details, is essential. Applications are due Feb. 5.

Event Marketing Internship- Students who are junior or senior- level college students or recent college graduates may apply. The internship is focused in distinctively different areas of writing and event planning. Projects are focused on promoting the brand to grocery stores, distributors, restaurants, and consumers. Applications are due Feb.1 5.

Scholarship

Colvin Scholarship Award- (Varies) College students who demonstrate commitment to the beef industry through pursuits of a meat science, food science, animal science, marketing, business, communications, journalism, or other degrees related to the beef industry through activities and curriculum are eligible. Applications are due Nov. 16.

CHS Foundation

Scholarship

High School Scholarship Program- ($1,000) High school seniors who plan to pursue a degree in an agricultural related field can apply. Applications are due May 1.

Two-Year College Scholarship Program- ($1,000) College students in their second year of a two-year college studying an agricultural related field may apply. Application due May 1.

University Scholarship Program- ($1,000) College students entering sophomore, junior, or senior year that are pursuing a degree in an agricultural related field may apply. First preference is given to those interested in agricultural-based cooperatives. Applications are due May 1.

Coca-Cola

Scholarship

Coca-Cola Scholars Program- (Varies) High school seniors pursuing a degree at an accredited university with a minimum of 3.0 GPA can apply. Applications are due Oct. 31.

Delta Kappa Gamma

Scholarship

Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship- (Varies) Active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for a minimum of three years can apply. Applicant must have completed a master’s degree or equivalent, be enrolled in an institution of high education (preferably pursuing a doctoral degree), provide excellence in scholarship and evidence of service to the community. Applications are due July 1.

DMI/ National Dairy Shrine

Internship

National Dairy Shrine Internships- The National Dairy Shrine offers internships in the areas of communications, development, veterinary, farm managements, policy, education, marketing, nutrition, public affairs, public relations, and writing.

Scholarship

NDS/ Kildee Graduate Scholarship- ($3,000) College students in their junior or senior year may apply for post graduate studies. Selection is based on rank in national contest, academic standing, leadership ability, student activities, future plans and experience with dairy cattle. Applications are due May 1.

NDS/ Kildee Undergraduate Scholarship- ($2,000) College students with junior or senior status may apply. Applications are due May 1.

NDS/ McCullough Scholarship- (Varies) High school seniors planning to enter a four year college or university with the intent to major in dairy/ animal science with a communications emphasis or agricultural journalism with a dairy/ animal science emphasis can apply. Selection is based on communication abilities and future plans. Applications are due May 1.

NDS/ Klussendorf/ McKown Scholarship- ($2,000) Students completing their first, second, or third year at a two- or four- year college or university majoring in dairy science, animal science, agribusiness, or other related majors that will develop the skills needed to pursue a career in the dairy industry may apply. Selection is based on activities, experience, and future plans. Applications are due May 1.

NDS/ Lager Scholarship- ($1,000) College students in their second year of a two year agricultural college majoring in dairy or animal science can apply.  Selection is based on academic standing, leadership ability, interest in the dairy industry, and future plans. Applications are due May 1.

NDS/ Maurice E. Core Scholarship- ($1,000) College freshman who plan to major in a dairy/ animal industry related field with interest in working in the dairy industry in the future are able to apply. Scholarship is based on leadership abilities, volunteerism, activities, and plans for the future. Applications are due May 1.

The Elks National Foundation

Scholarship

Most Valuable Student Award- (Varies) High school senior are eligible to apply. Selection is based on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Applications become available Sept. 1.

The Legacy Award- ($4,000) High school seniors who are children or grandchildren of a living Elk who joined on April1, 2008 or before is eligible to apply. Applications are due Feb. 1.

Farm Credit Service of America

Internship

Farm Credit Service Internship- Applicants must be studying a field related to the position, currently pursuing a bachelors degree, have a minimum of 3.0 GPA demonstrate leadership abilities, strong communications skills, and have an interest in FCS America as a future employer. Positions are posted during the fourth quarter.

Scholarship

Farm Credit Service of America- ($2,000) College juniors and seniors attending Iowa State University, University of Nebraska- Lincoln, South Dakota State University and the University of Wyoming enrolled in the College of Agriculture with course work emphasized in agribusiness, finance, accounting, or economics are able to apply. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 1.

GROWMARK

Internship

GROWMARK Internships- GROWMARK offers a variety of internships that allow student to see a “real world” agribusiness environment focused on sales, marketing, and customer service activities. Students will receive experience in agronomy, energy, accounting, and grain systems.

Scholarship

Youth and Young Farmer Scholarship- High school seniors who have applied to agriculture programs at community colleges in Illinois or Iowa, or at vocational schools in Wisconsin are eligible to apply. Students must be the son or daughter of GROWMARK patron or employee. Applications are due in mid-February.

Horatio Alger Association

Scholarship

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship- ($20,000) High school seniors who display a strong commitment to pursuing and completing a bachelor’s degree that have been involved in co-curricular and community activities are eligible. Applicant must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Applications open Aug. 1.

Institute for Food Technologists

Feed Tomorrow Scholarship and IFT Student Association George R. Foster memorial Scholarship- ($1,000) High school seniors planning to enter an approved program in food science/ technology may apply. Applications are due March 15.

Feed Tomorrow Scholarship- ($1,000) College freshman pursuing a degree in food science/ technology with a minimum of 3.0 GPA may apply. Application due March 1.

Arthur T. Schramm Memorial Scholarship- ($2,250) Junior or senior in college pursuing a curriculum in food science or food technology is eligible to apply. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 19.

IFT Foodservice Division Scholarship- ($2,500) Juniors or seniors in college who are pursuing a career that supports foodservice operations including hospitality, research chef program and food industry may apply. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 19.

IFT Food Microbiology Division Scholarship­- ($500) Junior or senior in college who is a member of the IFT Food Microbiology Division may submit a statement of interest in food microbiology, including a description of career objectives and professional aspirations may apply. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 19.

IFT Quality Assurance Division Abe Mittler Memorial Scholarship- ($2,500) Junior or senior in college who is taking or has taken at least one course in quality assurance and who demonstrates a definite interest in the quality assurance area can apply. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 19.

IFT Quality Assurance Division Louis J. Bianco Memorial Scholarship- ($2,000) Junior or senior in college who is taking or has taken at least one course in quality assurance and who demonstrates a definite interest in the quality assurance area is eligible. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 19.

Institute for Thermal Processing Specialists- Irving Pflug Scholarship- ($1,500) Junior or senior in college who is studying food science, food engineering, or applied microbiology as is related to food preservation may apply. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 19.

John J. and Irene T. Powers- ($1,500) Junior or senior in college pursuing a curriculum in food science or food technology is eligible to apply. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Applications are due Feb. 19.

Garland Bastin NAILE Scholarship Award- ($500) High school seniors who exhibit at least one animal in the NAILE Junior Dairy Show are able to apply. Applicant must be able for the award presentation during the NAILE Junior Dairy Banquet. Applications are due Sept. 30.

National Ayrshire Youth Committee

Scholarship

National Ayrshire Youth Scholarship- ($500) Applicant must be a junior member and have been a part of the Ayrshire Breeders’ Association for the past five year and planning to or are currently majoring in a post-secondary agricultural program. Applications are due March 1.

National Cattlemen’s Foundation

Scholarship

Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarship- ($5,000) Veterinary students who have designated an emphasis in beef production are eligible to apply. Applications are due Feb. 1.

Beef Industry Scholarship- ($1,500) Undergraduate students who are pursuing a career in the beef industry can apply. Fields of study may include education, communications, production, research, or any other area involved with the beef industry. Applications are due Feb. 1.

W.D. Farr Scholarship- ($12,000) Graduate students pursuing degrees in animal science, environmental science or agriculture may apply. Applicant must also reflect a drive for success and leadership in the tradition of W. D. Farr. Applications are due April 23.

Fred Johnson Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) Master’s of Ph.D. students studying meat animal science or genetics may apply. Applications are due April 23.

National Corn Growers Association

Scholarship

NCGA Academic Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship- ($1,000) Sophomore in college pursuing a degree in an agricultural, agribusiness, or an ag vocation field is eligible. Applicant must be an NCGA member or the son/ daughter of an NCGA member. Applications are due Dec. 11.

National Dairy Promotion and Research Board

Scholarship

NDPRB Undergraduate Scholarship- ($1,500) Sophomores, juniors or seniors in college enrolled in programs related to the dairy industry are eligible to apply. Majors include communications/ public relations, journalism, marketing, business, economics, nutrition, food science, and agricultural education.  Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, initiative and integrity. Applications are due May 31.

James H. Loper Jr. Memorial Scholarship ­–($2,500) Sophomores, juniors or seniors in college enrolled in programs related to the dairy industry are eligible to apply. Majors include communications/ public relations, journalism, marketing, business, economics, nutrition, food science, and agricultural education. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, initiative and integrity. Applications are due May 31.

National Dairy Herd Information Association

Scholarship

National DHIA Scholarship Program- ($750) A family member or employee of a herd on DHI test or a DHI affiliate that is a full time student may apply. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and leadership in school and community activities. Applications are due Oct. 15.

National Farmers Farm Kids for College Scholarship- ($1,000) Application and requirements will be available in November. Applications are due in mid- February.

National Famer’s Union Foundation

Internship

National Farmers Union Internship- The National Farmers Union offers a variety of internships in the areas of communications, cooperative development, economics, education, membership marketing, policy research, and political science. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Scholarship

Hubert K. Seymour Scholarship- ($2,000) High school seniors enrolled in an accredited two- or four- year university are eligible to apply. Applications are due Dec. 18.

Stanley Moore National Scholarship- ($1,000) Students who are Famers Union members enrolled in a two- or four- year college or university are able to apply. Applications are due. Dec. 18.

Stanley More FUI Foundation Regional Scholarship- ($1,500) Student who are Farmers Union members in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin can apply. Applications are due Dec. 18.

National FFA Organization

Scholarship

National FFA Scholarship- (Varies) FFA members pursuing a degree in a two- or four- year college or university are eligible to apply for over 1,000 scholarships by National FFA Organization sponsors. The selection process takes into account FFA involvement, community service, work experience, SAE projects, leadership skills, and academics. Applications are due Feb. 15.

National Milk Producers Federation

Scholarship

Hintz Memorial Scholarship- (Varies) Graduate students who are actively pursuing dairy-related fields of research are eligible to apply. Applicants do not need to be a member of NMPF but the recommended fields of study are agriculture communications/ journalism, genetics, animal health, herd management, economics, marketing and price analysis, environmental science, nutrition, food safety, or product development. Applications are due in June.

National Pork Producers Council

Scholarship

Lois Britt Pork Industry Memorial Scholarship- ($2,500) College students enrolled in a two-year swine program or four-year college in agriculture are eligible to apply. Applications are due Jan. 15.

National Wild Turkey Federation

Scholarship

National Wild Turkey Federation Academic Scholarship- (Varies) High school seniors who are pursuing a degree at an institute of higher education may apply. Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and support the preservation of the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports. Students must be a current member of the NWTF and participate  in high school activities and display leadership qualities. Applications are due January 1.

North American Limousin Foundation

Scholarship

North American Limousin Junior Association Award of Excellence- ($750) Applicant must be between the ages of 19-21 and be in good standing with the NALJA. Additionally, they must be active in some segment of the beef industry and enrolled in an agricultural major in college. Selection is based on hands-on experience with Limousin cattle, excellence in Limousin activities and leadership skills, and the ability to set and achieve goals. Applications are due May 15.

Pioneer Internship- Pioneer offers a variety of internships in the areas of finance/ accounting, communications/ public relations, community investment, agronomy, information technology, research, supply management, and sales/ marketing.

Scholarship

Honorary Plant Breeding Fellowship- ($25,000) Graduate students are able to apply. Selection is based on academic excellence, future professional plans, leadership and proposed study program/ area with consideration given to agronomic crops such as corn, soybeans, canola, sorghum, sunflower, wheat, alfalfa and rice. Applicant must have a minimum of 3.5 GPA. Applications are ongoing.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship-(Varies) High school seniors who plan to attend a two- or four- year college or university are eligible to apply. Other requirements may apply. Applications are due Feb. 16.

United Agribusiness League and United Agricultural Benefit Trust Scholarship- (Varies) Applicant must be affiliates with UAL or UABT and be enrolled at an accredited college or university. They must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Applications are due March 31.

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship- ($1,500) High school graduates who have been accepted to an institute of higher education may apply. Applicant must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and show promise of continued academic excellence. Applications are due depending on state board of education dates.
