2008
The Illinois Master Showmanship Contest will be August 6th at the Illinois State Fair Grounds in Springfield. The contest –which includes beef, sheep and swine divisions– is a statewide competition with one exhibitor per county. The exhibitor must be at least fourteen years of age and must be enrolled in a 4-H or FFA livestock project in the represented county. Each county will select one overall showmanship winner prior to the state event, under the sponsorship of a farm broadcaster that is a member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters and the Illinois Farm News Association.
Winners of each division (beef, swine, and sheep) and the top three overall winners receive scholarships. Additional prizes may be offered at both the county and state event. All participants in the state event receive a T-shirt and a scholarship of $50. Congratulations to the following winners:
