“The Heart of a Farmer”

A Missouri middle-schooler has written a poem about the recent western wildfires. Riley Spurgeon is a student at Cuba Middle School in Cuba, Missouri. She is a member of 4-H with a passion for cattle and horses. She wrote a heart-felt poem about the western wildfires and calls it – “The Heart of a Farmer.” Riley and her parents stopped by Brownfield Ag News studios in late April where she shared a reading of her poem with us.

They were here just the day before heavy rains caused flooding for farmers and others in Missouri and other parts of the Midwest and southwest.
