Rebounding from the drought

Since August 1 – Indiana has received above normal rainfall.  After the drought of 2012 – Ken Scheeringa Indiana Associate State Climatologist says it was needed.  “In Indiana we are rebounding very well,” he says.  “We’ve had plentiful rainfall since about August 1st and that has been effective in recharging our soils so we are in very good shape right now.”

Scheeringa tells Brownfield Indiana should expect a variable winter weather pattern.  “The trends that we are looking at are not very pronounced,” he says.  “It looks like it will be a very up and down winter.  We’ll see warm periods, very cold periods, wet periods, and very dry periods – just a little bit of everything.”

He says last year there were clear signals as to what the weather pattern would be – but so far this year – they do not see any.
