WI Fair champions bring big auction bids

2017 Wisconsin Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction at the State Fair

Bidders spent 167-thousand dollars during the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction Wednesday, where the State Fair’s grand champion steer sold for 50-thousand dollars and was then donated to the Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction Scholarship Fund.

Sixty-two percent of sales go to the exhibitors and 38% to the Blue Ribbon Sale of Champions Foundation for scholarships.  Donated animals are sold at market value to processors with the money going to the scholarship fund.

Overall, 30 animals and five commemorative items were sold.  We have the full list of exhibitors and buyers online at Brownfield Ag News.
