White House’s Rural Task Force meets for second time

President Trump’s rural task force has three more months to develop its plan for rural prosperity.

“We’ve got technology issues, we’ve got infrastructure issues, we’ve got health issues—all of that.  I think he saw the USDA and the Secretary of Agriculture as the one to bring these agencies together.”

Led by U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue, the Interagency Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity met for the second time this week to discuss efforts to reduce regulatory barriers, create rural jobs and improve infrastructure.

Perdue gave updates from four working groups getting recommendations on the quality of life in rural America; the rural workforce; innovation, technology, and data; and economic development.

A final report will be presented to the White House by the end of October.
