West Michigan farm facing lawsuits totaling $150 million

A large west Michigan farm operation is facing various lawsuits seeking damages of nearly $150 million dollars.

A Grand Rapids television station reports Boersen Farms–headquartered in Zeeland–has six debtors filing suit, including Minnesota-based securities company CHS Capital.

CHS says it fronted capital to Boersen Farms and claim they failed to comply with the repayment agreement.

Deere and Company, CNH Industrial Capital, and Strategic Funding Source are among other entities suing Boersen’s businesses.

An attorney for the farm, which produces mostly corn and other grains, says they are working with current lenders and vendors towards resolution while restructuring their operation.

The Boersen website says they operate in 15 Michigan counties with storage available for more than nine million bushels of product.
