Vilsack considered a “fabulous asset” for dairy

A member of the DMI (Dairy Management Incorporated) export ingredients committee calls U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) CEO Tom Vilsack a fabulous asset for the industry.

Suzanne Vold, a dairy farmer from west-central Minnesota, says she’s worked briefly with the former USDA Ag Secretary and believes his expertise will help grow business outside the U.S.

“That might mean that we know (more) about the policies in many different countries.  It might mean that we do more research to find out what those consumers who didn’t have dairy as a part of their regular diet are most interested in, so that we produce what they want.”

She tells Brownfield there’s also great value in the established relationships Vilsack built through USDA.

“In the very short time that he has been with (USDEC) so far, I’ve been very impressed and very excited.  It’s a fabulous asset for all dairy farmers.”

In addition to her state, regional, and national involvement with DMI, Vold also serves on the Midwest Dairy Association corporate board.
