U.S. ethanol production up slightly on week

U.S. ethanol production last week averaged 993,000 barrels a day, up 7,000 from the previous week.

Profit margins are good and there is plenty of corn available, but production tends to decline in spring as plants preform maintenance and refiners ready summer fuel blends.

Corn demand for ethanol is on pace to meet or exceed the USDA’s projections for the marketing year and before the pull back, daily U.S. production averaged more than a million barrels for more than five months in a row.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says U.S. ethanol stocks climbed to 23.034 million barrels last week, up 131,000.
