U.S. corn rating improves, soybeans hold

Late U.S. corn and soybean development remains ahead of average. Conditions and weather have varied widely over the course of the growing season into harvest, but the USDA has maintained record production projections.

The USDA says as of Sunday, 97% of U.S. corn has reached maturity, compared to the five year average of 94%, and 46% is harvested, compared to 49% on average. 74% of corn is rated good to excellent, up 1% on the week.

96% of U.S. soybeans are dropping leaves, compared to 94% typically this time of year, and 62% is harvested, just behind the normal pace of 63%. 74% of U.S. beans are in good to excellent shape, unchanged from last week.

72% of U.S. winter wheat is planted, compared to 73%, and 47% has emerged, compared to 45% on average.

46% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, 3% lower than a week ago.
