Tyson Foods has fired 10 employees in the wake of an undercover video alleging animal abuse throughout several poultry facilities in Virginia.

Vice president of sustainable food production Christine Daugherty said in a statement that she saw the video and was disgusted and outraged.

In the footage released by animal rights group Compassion over Killing, a Tyson supervisor is seen suffocating birds while instructing others to do the same.

In addition to the firings, the company says it’s in the process of meeting with everyone in its chicken operations who handles live birds to aggressively re-emphasize the importance of proper animal handling and the consequences of not complying with Tyson policies.

The animal rights group made formal complaints to prosecutors and animal control officers in the region, but as of Friday no charges have been filed.

Tyson says it has also reached out to local authorities.
