“The era of direct payments is over”

Senate Ag Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow says the “era of direct payments is over” for U.S. farmers. Stabenow told the committee strengthening and expanding crop insurance programs will be one of her priorities in the next farm bill saying, “It is absolutely imperative that we get these policies right.”
