Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly is holding a series of Farm Bill listening sessions to ensure Indiana farmers are represented in the upcoming Farm Bill discussions.

The Senator met with Indiana Farm Bureau’s Farm Bill task force on Friday.

Randy Kron, president of the organization says members looked at all 11 titles of the Farm Bill and outlined their priorities with the Senator.  “They told Senator Donnelly crop insurance should be the number one priority,” he says.  “The commodity title number two and then conservation and research with others following.  But, crop insurance was number one.”

Kron tells Brownfield Indiana farmers want to make sure they are part of the discussions.  “He can carry to the Senate Ag Committee that Indiana’s voice is hear,” he says.  “We’re hoping that Senator Donnelly can mitigate or minimize some of the discussions from some of the southern Senators and just make sure we’re at the table.”

This is the first of several Farm Bill listening sessions the Senator will hold across the state.
