Students share the message of biotech needs

The president of Purdue University says the students working in research at the university are some of the best advocates for the use of biotechnology in agriculture.

Mitch Daniels says those students understand the challenge of bringing food to hungry people.  “That idealism, I think is reflected very well when they (students) are out explaining, much better frankly than I can – and more persuasively than a person like me can, what the science is and why it is not only appropriate – but absolutely essential,” he says.

He tells Brownfield the students share their experiences with their peers and even their elders.  “Their excitement about what they’re doing and their passion for what it can mean to the world is pretty hard to resist,” he says.

Daniels made his remarks following the dedication of Purdue’s new Corn and Soybean Innovation Center on Monday.
