Student day with Michigan agribusinesses

JimByrum

The President of the Michigan Agri-Business Association says agriculture needs more young people because there will be an increase in people retiring from the ag industry.

Jim Byrum tells Brownfield agribusinesses are meeting with high school and college students to open a dialog about possible careers.  “We want to expose young people to all of those career opportunities which normally they wouldn’t have the opportunity to see in their local community.”

He says a student session at their winter conference this week highlighting the diversity of careers will be taped and shared with agriscience programs across Michigan.
