Solid week for corn, soybean export inspections

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending April 27th were more than what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 574,588 tons, down 57,461 from the week ending April 20th, but up 218,709 from the week ending April 28th, 2016. With about a month left in the 2016/17 marketing year for wheat, inspections are 24,385,864 tons, compared to 18,403,889 late in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,093,729 tons, 370,654 lower than the previous week and 76,596 less than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 38,445,540 tons, compared to 24,186,401 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 521,218 tons, 125,615 below the prior week, but 327,116 above last year. For the marketing year to date, soybean inspections are 49,444,264 tons, compared to 42,920,807 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 115,323 tons. That’s an increase of 79,058 tons on the week, but a decrease of 41,166 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 4,208,800 tons, compared to 6,758,017 in 2015/16.
