Solid week for corn, soybean export inspections

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending February 16th, 2017 were more than what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2016/17 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 558,252 tons, up 233,548 tons from the week ending February 9th and 288,539 higher than the week ending February 18th, 2016. For the 2016/17 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 18,376,473 tons, compared to 14,421,155 in 2015/16.

Corn was reported at 1,152,233 tons, 103,660 less than the previous week, but 243,423 more than this time last year. At this point in the marketing year, corn inspections are 24,422,897 tons, compared to 14,027,258 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,076,390 tons, down 69,142 from the week before and 468,725 lower than last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 42,665,362 tons, compared to 37,550,639 a year ago.

Sorghum totaled 179,386 tons. That’s a decrease of 25,974 tons on the week and 37,720 on the year. 2016/17 sorghum inspections are 3,044,203 tons, compared to 5,047,825 in 2015/16.
