Senate approves Branstad to be ambassador to China

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad was confirmed by the U.S. Senate late Monday to serve as U.S. Ambassador to China.  The final vote was 82-13.

Many ag groups support Branstad for the role. American Soybean Association (ASA) President and Illinois farmer Ron Moore says Branstad has extensive experience working with China and understands the importance of the Chinese market.  The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association was also quick to praise Branstad’s confirmation.

Brownfield’s Larry Lee contributed to this story.
