Rebound beginning in the dairy industry

The head of agriculture for BMO Harris says after a challenging 18 months the prices the dairy industry is starting to rebound.

Sam Miller tells Brownfield dairy producers have seen a return to higher prices in the latter part of this year.  “Largely because we’ve seen the Europeans reduce the amount of milk produced,” he says.  “And that has helped to bring worldwide supply and demand a little closer to back into balance.  That’s been bullish for dairy prices and hopefully that continues into 2017.”

He says lower input costs are also helping dairy producers’ bottom line.
