R-CALF protests Cargill feedlot sale

Cattle organization R-CALF USA has asked the federal government to block the proposed sale of two Cargill feedlots to Friona Industries.

R-CALF says the sale will substantially reduce competition in both the feeder cattle market and the fed cattle market.

The sale involves Cargill’s Bovina and Dalhart, Texas feedlots. Cargill said it plans to retain its facilities in Yuma, Colorado and Leoti, Kansas.
