ProFarmer Midwest Crop Tour – Day 4

The Profarmer Midwest Crop Tour wrapped up on Thursday, August 25 and in Austin, Minnesota tour participants shared their findings from Iowa and Minnesota.

“We came up with an Iowa average for corn of 164.6 that was down 2.8 percent from our tour findings a year ago” said Brian Grete, who led the Eastern leg of the tour. “In Minnesota we came up with an average yield of 175.9 and that was down 5.1 percent from tour findings a year ago.”

Grete says soybean pod counts were down in both Iowa and Minnestota.

“We had a 1221.94, down 9.3 percent in Iowa and 1124.2 also down 9.3 percent in Minnesota,” Grete said. “Not quite what we found last year by any means, it looked like a good crop, it was disease free, it was pretty healthy and pest free, it looks like it has some pretty solid potential if it gets some timely rains late in the season.”
