Precision farming companies more optimistic about ag economy

Precision farming retailers are anticipating a modest increase to revenues this year after an upswing in 2016.

A study by Precision Farming Dealer finds revenue growth exceeded expectations for nearly a quarter of retailers last year, with revenue increases of eight percent or more doubling original forecasts.

Fewer dealers in the study also reported revenue declines. For 2017, 20 percent more dealers expect some growth and the number of dealers anticipating measurable declines is the lowest in at least three years.

The study found while precision farming hardware sales have continued to decline, revenue from service and data management has increased.
