Pork Board launches “Taste of Now”

The National Pork Board has launched a new marketing campaign, “The Taste of Now.”

“Pork is a great value right now,” says Jan Archer, president of the National Pork Board, “We have a lot of pork on the market and so consequently we’re seeing some really great prices in the marketplace, so now is a great time to take advantage of that. Pork is also trending as a taste.”

She tells Brownfield the campaign is focused on ethnic flavors – including Asian and Latin – and, different markets – Hispanic and African American, “Experimental flavors that really seem to appeal to today’s population – and, specifically, to millennials who are really interested in experimenting and adventuring through food. So this (promotion) blends really well with that.”

The Pork Checkoff has partnered with some celebrity chefs to promote new pork recipes and is holding a national sweepstakes.  Consumers can share photos of their pork dishes on social media with the hashtag #PorkNowSweeps for a chance to win prizes (through April 15th, 2017).

Jan Archer is a pork producer in North Carolina.
