Peterson weighs in on Perdue nomination
The Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee says he looks forward to sharing the concerns of Midwestern farmers with the next Secretary of Agriculture.
Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson released a statement following the announcement that president-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Georgia governor Sonny Perdue to head the USDA.
Peterson says the next ag secretary needs to get started on reauthorizing the Farm Bill, maintaining the RFS and rolling back certain regulations that negatively impact farmers.
Peterson also pointed out Perdue’s background in agriculture as a positive, and says he’s hopeful rural America will get a better sense of the incoming administration’s policy plans.
Perdue holds a doctorate in veterinary medicine and has had a successful career in agribusiness.
