Organic cost share certification available at FSA offices next spring

Organic producers will be able to get certified cost share assistance at USDA/FSA offices starting next spring.

The USDA has moved the National Organic Certification Cost Share Program from the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) to the Farm Service Agency (FSA), which has offices in nearly every rural county in the U.S.

In a release, the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition applauded the move saying it will ensure producers have as many options as possible to participate in the cost share program.

State Departments of Agriculture will retain the option of offering the program, and in states where they do, producers can enroll through the state agency as well as at all county FSA offices. Producers will also be able to apply by mail.

The program will be available in FSA offices starting March 20th 2017.
