Oklahoma Cattlemen raise nearly $750,000 for wildfire victims

The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association says nearly $750,000 has been raised for wildfire victims in the state.

“We had approached the half a million dollar mark and then we got a very, very sizable donation that came in from an individual and we’re approaching the $750,000 mark now.”

Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation coordinator Jeff Jaronek  tells Brownfield donations have been pouring in from across the country with every dollar raised going back to producers.  “We literally cannot raise enough when you consider the number of producers that were affected, the amount of acres that were burned, the loss of cattle”

The Oklahoma Extension Service estimates more than $16 million in damages for losses on the more than 310,000 acres in the state. Jaronek says producers will have until May 1 to apply for relief funds.  More details on how to donate can be found here.
