Ohio CIG funding available

Ohio will award up to $150,000 for new projects adopting successful conservation practices on agricultural land.

The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is seeking new proposals to spend that Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) money on.

The focus this year in Ohio is on innovative conservation projects to benefit veteran farmers, beginning farmers and those with limited resources, to improve nutrient inputs and identify nutrient issues and to study water management practices for maximum production.

To be eligible, producers must be involved in the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

Proposals are due by February 17th. Final CIG funding is subject to Fiscal Year 2017 funding availability.
