New food and ag faculty research grants

The Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research has named the first award winners of the New Innovator in Food and Agriculture Research grants.

Established by the 2014 farm bill, the program will fund nine new university faculty and their creative research projects focused on increasing food availability and sustainable agriculture. Rrojects are centered on water use, soil health, animal and plant productivity, nutrition and innovation.

A total of $4.8 million has been awarded and includes researchers at Michigan State University, Purdue University and South Dakota State University.
