Hot and dry weather is beginning to take its toll on Nebraska’s row crops and pastures, according to the latest crop progress report.

The percentage of the state’s corn crop with a good to excellent rating declined seven points from last week, down to 68 percent. The good to excellent rating on soybeans dropped four percentage points to 66 percent.

Pasture and range conditions are also deteriorating with 40 percent called good to excellent, down ten points from just two weeks ago.

The drier conditions have allowed the winter wheat harvest to make good progress. Harvest is 52 percent complete, compared to 38 average.
