Nebraska Extension releases Grain Marketing Plan app

A new mobile app from Nebraska Extension aims to help farmers do a better job of marketing their grain.

Associate Extension Educator Jessica Groskopf helped develop the new Grain Marketing Plan app.

“Basically what it does is allow you to enter your grain marketing plan into your phone,” Groskopf says. “You set a price and a date target. Once you’ve entered that information, you can stick your phone in your pocket and forget about it. Then when your price or your date hits, the phone will remind you to take action based on your plan, not just a text message that goes to everyone.”

Groskopf hopes the app will help producers decipher “fact versus feeling” when making grain marketing decisions.

“It really does provide another level of understanding, when you’re able to look at those markets on a daily basis and track those movements relative to your plan, rather than just seeing it move without any reference to your expectations of the market and your farm.”

The free app is available on iPhone and IPad devices through the App Store. For more information, click here.

The Nebraska Corn Board, North Central Risk Management Education Center and Nebraska Extension provided funding for the project.
