Nebraska ag director declines to comment on USDA speculation

Nebraska ag director Greg Ibach tells Brownfield he can’t comment on a report that he is being considered for a top post in the USDA.

Washington, D.C.-based news service Politico said this week it has talked to several unnamed sources who say Ibach is being considered for a USDA position, possibly undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs.

Ibach told Brownfield, “I’m sure any ag leader in Nebraska would be interested in the opportunity to work in the USDA”. But he declined to comment further on the Politico report.

Ibach owns a cow-calf and grain operation in central Nebraska.

Iowa ag secretary Bill Northey and Indiana director of agriculture Ted McKinney are also reported to be under consideration for top positions in the USDA.
