MMPA donates milk every day for next year

The Michigan Milk Producers Association plans to donate 150 gallons of milk per day to the Food Bank Council of Michigan for the next year.

MMPA President Ken Nobis tells Brownfield the donation is to celebrate the Kroger Michigan Dairy plant’s 50th anniversary.  “We put the first drop of milk in that plant 50 years ago and we’re putting all the drops in-between in that plant.”

MMPA recognized the Kroger Company of Michigan during their annual meeting with an inaugural Valued Partner Award as part of the announcement.  “In recognition of Kroger Company, and recognition of the need of milk in the food bank system, we’re actually going to be donating 150 gallons of milk a day for 365 days.”

The total donation of more than 54,000 gallons a will distributed to the Food Bank Council of Michigan’s regional food banks with a portion of the processing and packaging provided by the Michigan Dairy plant in Livonia.
