Michigan producers make up for lost time

Michigan producers had nearly a full week available for fieldwork last week. That allowed them to catch up on planting, spring, and fertilizing, but high winds did cause some disruptions, and parts of the state do need rain. The USDA says frost damage from May is becoming more apparent on fruit crops.

96% of corn is planted and 83% has emerged, with 69% of the crop rated good to excellent.

88% of soybeans are planted and 68% have emerged, with 70% in good to excellent condition.

70% of pastures and rangelands are called good to excellent.
