Michigan FFA Foundation supports future leaders

The Michigan FFA Foundation executive director says more than $30,000 will be awarded to local chapters for special projects from the Glassbrook Endowment Fund during the Michigan FFA State Convention.

Cassy Puskala tells Brownfield the cost to operate the Michigan FFA and offset costs for local chapters is funded directly through support of the foundation.  “Your local FFA receives money to go to state convention, they receive money to go to Washington Leadership Conference, we have special scholarships for different types of programs.”

New to the position, Puskala says she wants to focus on growing the endowment to be self-sustaining as well as help local schools improve funding resources.  “If we’ve got the capability of raising money now to sustain the future of FFA, that means your grandchildren won’t have to worry about programs and things being cut.”

She says regardless if FFA students work in the agricultural industry, they’re learning life skills to be future leaders.
